Fondée au XIIe siècle l'abbaye connaît une grande
prospérité au Moyen Âge, puis décline et s'éteint
vers 1780. Elle est sauvée au XXe siècle grâce à
la famille Beck et le Département de la Manche.
C'est l'un des ensembles monastiques les plus
complets de Normandie.

Founded in the 12th century the abbey enjoyed great prosperity in the Middle Ages and then declined and closed in around 1780. It was saved in the 20th century thanks to the Beck family and the Manche Department. It is one of the most complete monastic ensembles in Normandy.
